Esteban Ocon, the Alpine F1 racing driver, has shared his thoughts on the potential return of the French GP on the Formula 1 calendar. The event occurred last year but was removed for some new events during the ongoing season. Ocon feels it would be fantastic to race in front of home fans again if it becomes a reality.

Alpine is the only French team in the current Formula 1 grid and has even got two young and highly-talented French drivers, Esteban Ocon and Pierre Gasly. The duo has performed decently in the 2023 season and will be overjoyed if the French GP finds a place on next year’s calendar.

Ocon is highly excited about the potential prospect, and while talking about it, he told motorsportweek, “It’s awesome news. For me, that’s the best news probably of the year. There is a lot of people involved who are trying to find solutions, people that pushed for the return of the grand prix back in the day.”

It is good to see things are moving in the right direction. We should have a French Grand Prix; we are a big motorsport nation, we have big manufacturers. We have a fully French team, with drivers as well, so it would be awesome to see it coming back.” The 26-year-old ardently believes that having a French GP almost every season is the right way forward.

While Esteban Ocon is not finding it difficult to hold his horses over the news of the potential return of the French GP, he has done very well for Alpine in what has otherwise proven to be a tumultuous campaign. He has been one of the few bright shining lights for the team so far in the season.

As things stand, Ocon is tenth in the Drivers Championship with 35 points. Moreover, the Enstone-based team’s main highlight of the ongoing season came courtesy of the Frenchman when he landed his A523 on the podium at the Monaco Grand Prix.

Esteban Ocon has performed well for the team in the 2023 F1 season. If Alpine can improve its car during the second leg somehow, then there would be every chance of seeing Ocon stealing the limelight with his out-of-the-blue extraordinary performances. Alpine is currently sixth in the Drivers Championship.
