With less than adequate results and massive instability in their upper management, Alpine is having a very difficult season. They are sixth in the constructor’s standings behind the newly reformed McLaren. Alpine driver Esteban Ocon recently shared his thoughts on Alpine’s struggling form and how they plan to deal with it.

Ocon instantly shut off the idea of switching focus to next year. He said that even though they have finished in good positions (including Ocon’s podium in Monaco), other teams like McLaren have upgraded quickly, and Alpine is struggling to keep up. He said that while they are not likely to bring out an upgrade as dramatic as McLaren’s, the team is still on the right track to improve their results.

“It’s easy to say that, for you, now. But, you know, we’ve been working very hard. It’s just recently that it hasn’t gone our way. Other teams have improved more than we did. And yeah, I mean, we’ve seen it with McLaren what happens. Obviously, I’m not saying that bringing an update, that that’s what we are going to do,” said Ocon.

All the teams in F1 are engaged in a thrilling race of upgrades. From McLaren’s sensational new sidepods to Mercedes’ new front suspension, every team is trying to best their opponents. Recently, Pierre Gasly talked about what Alpine plans on bringing to the mix after the summer break.

Gasly revealed that Alpine would be bringing a new floor, which he believes will improve the overall performance of the car. He said that the team is not satisfied with their current position and is constantly looking for room to improve by continuously adding bits and pieces to the upgrades.

“So, this weekend we have a new floor which will help the overall performance, which I’m really looking forward to. We are all working really hard, trying to find new bits to put upgrades, and maximise the package we got. I’m confident that together as a team we will be able to turn things around in the second part of the year,” said Gasly.

Gasly is currently on P12 in the WDC standings. He is two places behind his teammate Esteban Ocon who managed to grab the only podium for Alpine this season. With ten races remaining this season, it remains to be seen whether Alpine will be able to retain their fourth place in the constructor’s championship.
