Alpine’s Esteban Ocon was involved in a dramatic incident with his teammate Pierre Gasly and Daniel Ricciardo during the Hungarian GP. This incident led to him being taken to a medical center for evaluation. The collision occurred on the first lap of the race and resulted in Ocon’s car being launched into the air, with the rear of his car crashing down on Gasly’s rear wing. The impact even caused damage to Ocon’s cockpit seat.

Sky Sports presenter and F1 commentator David Croft revealed that Ocon’s condition required medical attention, emphasizing the seriousness of the incident. This occurrence is relatively rare in Formula 1, highlighting the severity of the impact. The start of the race was reminiscent of the 2021 edition of the Grand Prix. A chain reaction of contact into turn one had caused both Alpines to be taken out.

Guanyu Zhou, starting at a career-best P5, encountered a challenging start due to an anti-stall issue, losing positions when the lights went out. His late braking during the first lap resulted in a collision with Daniel Ricciardo‘s AlphaTauri, involving Ocon and Gasly. Ocon’s car flew into the air and crashed on Pierre Gasly‘s car leading to both Alpines retiring. Zhou was handed a five-second penalty for his actions.
