‘Every single moment that I’ve lived in F1 was with you guys’: Pierre Gasly pours his heart out in an emotional goodbye message to AlphaTauri

Aside from a 12-race stint at Red Bull, Pierre Gasly has spent the entirety of his career at Toro Rosso/AlphaTauri. He made his debut with them back in 2017 in Malaysia and ran in 4 more races during the year. In 2018, he was promoted to a full-time seat, where he finished 15th with 29 points.
When he was given a shot at the big time in 2019, he was thoroughly outclassed by Max Verstappen. When he was demoted back to Toro Rosso following the Hungarian GP, he had only scored 63 points, compared to the 181 of his teammate. But this demotion also yielded him the self-admitted ‘best day of my life’ as The Frenchman finished 2nd behind Verstappen in Brazil, his first-ever podium finish.
Since then, he also won a race with the team, their first victory since the Italian Grand Prix in 2008. And this time around, it was also Italy, as he held off Carlos Sainz to win his first-ever race. But one could say his career had been stagnating – with no clear path to the main team, quickly enough, at least. And so that has led him to finally seek other avenues at Alpine, but it will be an emotional goodbye.
Pierre Gasly wishes the best to AlphaTauri
In AlphaTauri’s ‘ALL ACCESS’ video at the Japanese GP, Pierre Gasly gave a ‘premature’ goodbye message to the team. News had broken through of him going to Alpine, and people at the team probably already knew it was happening. While Gasly said that “We’ll do a nicer and better party in Abu Dhabi.” but he just wanted to say a few words to the team before that final goodbye.
Gasly said: “It’s very emotional, obviously, for me, because you’ve been part of my whole career in Formula 1. Each single [one] of you. Every single moment that I’ve lived in F1 was with you guys. My first race in Malaysia, my first test, my first win, my first podium. So pretty much all the intense emotions I’ve received in Formula 1 is thanks to you, and shared with all of you guys.”
He continued: “I’m extremely grateful for all these years.” also adding: “Thank you to all the race team, I’ll give my best till the end of the year. Who knows what’s gonna happen? I just wanna wish you all the best for the future to each single one of you at the race team, and let’s enjoy these last weekends together.”
Pierre Gasly wasn’t the only one emotional. His fans, especially those of AlphaTauri and of his friendship with Yuki Tsunoda were definitely emotional as well. To leave the team where you spent basically your entire career is never going to be easy, and one will hope that the Frenchman sees further success at Alpine.
