“Everybody at some point deserves a second chance,” Red Bull decides to keep Juri Vips under their young drivers’ programme despite the racial slur
Juri Vips
Juri Vips had his contract with Red Bull Racing terminated after his slur during a video game live stream when he used a racist word. It lead to his career being damaged with first a terminated contract from the current best team and later being criticised by people all around the internet. The Hitech driver is just a 21-year-old kid driving in Formula 2 right now.
Red Bull’s young driver’s programme is one of the best around the world, for young champs looking for a career in motorsport to get a chance with funding directly in the motorsport world. Juri is still considered a part of the young programme despite him being thrown out as a reserve driver for the Red Bull team, and with no name on the website as well.
“We have cancelled our agreement with him and that will undoubtedly give him time for reflection, Everybody at some point deserves a second chance, if they can show that they have really learnt from their mistakes,” said Horner.
“He is a young guy, a young kid, and we will be supporting him – even though he has had his agreement terminated – from a mental health and educational perspective. Hopefully he will learn from it,” explained Horner.

Juri Vips still driving in the current Formula 2 season
Juri despite being a reserve driver for the Red Bull team in Formula 1, was a driver in Formula 2 for Hitech Formula 2 team. He will not drive for the same but with a black helmet over his head.
“That is their [Hitech’s] decision and we are not funding that drive in any way,” Horner added. “That is purely the choice of that F2 team and they have their own reasons for the actions they have taken,” cleared Christian over Red Bull control on the driver’s team.
Juri is currently 7th in the Championship table with 59 points in his account, 68 points behind the leader. He finished 6th last season, things arent much better for him this time around as well.
