“We’re not going anywhere with this car,” Exasperated McLaren reveal they will redesign the MCL60 to become more competent
McLaren Team Boss Andrea Stella talked about how he believes redoing all the work is the only way to take his team forward.

In a pre-weekend interview with Formula One, McLaren team-boss Andrea Stella admittedly said their 2023 car is not adequate according to the ongoing racing standards of this F1 2023 season. The Italian admitted to the fact they got it all wrong in their car concept of MCL60. But crying over spilled milk without doing anything is useless and is definitely not the intention of Andrea Stella, the new leader of McLaren.
With some moderate performances from McLaren and with an average start to the 2023 season, the team faced a backlash from its fans. McLaren were expected to learn more about their last year’s design, to develop a car with minimal porpoising and better aerodynamics. A few incidents of porpoising were noted in the car in Spanish GP in the final corner of the race. The new Team Principal assured that they are still working hard on the design concepts in order to overturn their season. “This season told us one thing above all—there is so much to work”, Stella disappointingly explained to the interviewers. “We understood relatively early that this car wouldn’t take us anywhere”, he then admitted.
McLaren has assured to match the expectations of fans, and will see the difference as latest as Austrian Grand Prix. Appointment of Former Red Bull Engineer, Rob Marshall, is definitely the symbol of a new start, and Andrea Stella wants to impose an all-round change in his team since the papaya squad seems to be far behind when compared to the direct rivals. “We are redesigning the car, especially aerodynamics and some parts under the bodywork. The news will come from Austria”, added Stella.
McLaren can outsmart Red Bull, says former champion Mika Hakkinen
Former McLaren and 2 times world champion Mika Hakkinen backs his former team to go neck to neck with RedBull for the championship. The Finnish driver insisted that Mclaren has sufficient inventory and work personnel in their ranks and will have to give them time to sort their operations this year. An influx of technical personnel including David Sanchez from Ferrari and Rob Marshall from Red Bull are a few names that will bring their expertise to the team.
McLaren might not catch RedBull this year. But if things go right and everything is at the right place for McLaren, all that they have to do is optimally plan and operate to gain the advantage to challenge RedBull. It is yet to be seen if McLaren can get their efforts right this time. If it’s going to be at par with the expectations of fans or if they’ll fail again! That’s something fans will follow this weekend at the Canadian Grand Prix.
