Formula 1, the pinnacle of motorsports, has long been shrouded in mystery, with a degree of complication that even the most dedicated fans often struggle to fathom. But now, F1 is gearing up to launch a new podcast with the title ‘Formula Why,’ dedicated to answering fans’ burning questions and the whys about the sport.

The new podcast, called ‘Formula Why,’ aims to demystify the inner workings of F1 by answering the ‘why?’ questions. Each weekly episode will tackle a specific “why” question, such as why the F1 vehicles have so many different tyre compounds, or why driving in the rain is a genuine skill test for F1 drivers. The podcast will be hosted by American motorsports writer Katie Osborne and British presenter Christian Hewgill, and will include insights from those who are integral to the functioning of Formula One, such as drivers, strategists, trainers, race engineers, technical directors, and pit-stop specialists.

Katie Osborne, one of the new podcast hosts, believes that Formula Why is perfect for those who are passionate about F1 and want to learn more about the sport. “If you’re like me and Christian, you think F1 is one of the greatest sports in the world, and the more you know about it, the more you love it,” Osborne said. “Whether you’ve been following F1 for years or you are new to the sport, Formula Why is an inclusive show that will help everyone feel like they have a better grasp on inner workings of F1, both on and off track.”

Christian Hewgill, the other host of the podcast, is a passionate F1 fan who is excited about the opportunity to work with Formula 1 on an official podcast. “To be working with Formula 1, the sport I’ve loved since I was a kid, on an official podcast that answers all of those questions and more, is a total dream come true. Katie is amazing – we’re going to have a lot of fun,” Hewgill said.

The official F1 podcast lineup now includes Formula Why alongside Beyond the Grid and F1 Nation. Beyond the Grid is presented by Tom Clarkson and features Damon Hill and Natalie Pinkham in the latter, while F1 Nation is a race analysis programme that covers all the latest news and insights from the world of Formula One.

Fans can get answers to their questions on F1 from the brand-new Formula Why podcast by writing to them. Every Friday, new episodes of the podcast will be released, and fans may submit questions for the show by recording a voice note and forwarding it to Why@F1.com.

In addition to the podcasts, F1 also releases episodes on their official YouTube channel with ‘Tech Talk’ that are aimed at simplifying the technical knowledge to the fans. F1 is doing its absolute best to make the sport more accessible to everyone, and Formula Why is a perfect example of that.
