Aston Martin’s current lineup in 2022 constitutes of Lance Stroll and 4 time world champion Sebastian Vettel. Although during the Hungarian Grand Prix weekend, Vettel announced that he will be retiring from the sport at the end of this season.

This effectively left a seat empty for next season for drivers like Felipe Drugovich and Daniel Ricciardo could have gone for. Although Fernando Alonso was quick to act on it and signed a deal with Aston to race for them next season and beyond. And as we all know, the driver in the other seat won’t ever lose his seat.

Felipe Drugovich has been having an amazing season so far in Formula 2. The Brazilian driver is racing for MP Motorsport and is partnered up with French driver Clément Novalak.

Felipe has been on a charge this year and currently leads the F2 standings with 205 points to his name. He has the talent to move up to the big leagues in Formula 1. But who will give him a seat is the main question. Aston Martin has a history of having pay drivers test for their team. Nikita Mazepin has tested with the team previously along with current Williams F1 driver Nicolas Latifi.

There are high chances that a role has been offered to Felipe Drugovich by Aston Martin for next season. Renowned F1 Journalist Joe Saward has recently revealed that Aston Martin had offered Drugovich a deal for becoming their reserve driver for next season. The F1 journalist believes that this deal has been made possible due to the involvement of a Brazilian bank. It is obvious that the bank will fund Felipe’s deal with the team if he chooses to accept it. Joe Saward went on to talk about this ongoing situation.

“He further goes on the reveal the details that he has gathered about the move. “Elsewhere, I did hear that Brazil’s Felipe Drugovich is talking seriously to Aston Martin about a reserve driver deal and is believed to be supported by a Brazilian bank,” he says.

With both seats not available for next season, it seems like a bad deal for Felipe Drugovich to accept. Although it is already known that Fernando Alonso doesn’t have many years left in him to race which could lead to an opening for the Brazilian in the future. It might be best for him to take the deal as the Brazilian bank is also ready to support it.
