“Amazing experience on such a great circuit” – F2 Driver Theo Pourchaire pleased with first F1 session outing in Austin

19-year-old Theo Pourchaire got his first taste of a formula one weekend as he drove for the Alfa Romeo F1 team during the first free practice session on Friday – the Frenchman completing 19 laps and finishing 18th at the end of the session.

The Alfa Romeo F1 team gave the 2020 Formula 3 runner-up an opportunity to present his skills in a bid for a potential driveway down the line as the youngster currently competes in Formula 2, with a total of 5 race wins in the series.

This marks the first outing for Pourchaire in an F1 race weekend, with him being glad over the time spent on track. He also tweeted about his experience with a few pics from his drive. He is keen on his pathway towards achieving his aim of being in Formula One.

Taking to Twitter, Pourchaire wrote: “

Despite currently competing in Formula 2, The 19-year-old does have his eyes set towards his target as he looks to impress his academy drive team towards a possible full-time role in the long run.

Alfa Romeo currently has a driver lineup of multiple Grand Prix winner, Valtteri Bottas and Chinese F1 talent, Zhou Guanyu, with the pair staying on in 2023, after Zhou’s contract renewal earlier this year. The team will be becoming an Audi works team in 2026.
