The Las Vegas GP included a lot of additions to the race weekend. The race featured the infamous chapel in Las Vegas for people wanting quick or unplanned marriages. The opening ceremony was also a grand show for all the fans to enjoy. Jacques Villeneuve just married in this chapel.
After the announcement of the chapel, multiple fans trolled this decision from F1 and claimed that F1 was resorting to gimmicks to make the race weekend more enjoyable. Some also claimed that this chapel would be useless and that no one would want to get married at such a destination.
However, Former world champion Jacques Villeneuve has announced his marriage at the same Vegas Chapel built by F1. The Canadian driver has tied the knot with Giulia Marra in front of the fans and F1 community at the Las Vegas GP.
His ex-Williams Engineer Jock Clear was his best man at the wedding event and proceeded with the wedding. Hence, Villeneuve has become the only driver in the history of Formula 1 to ever marry at an F1 racing venue during the Las Vegas GP.
The organizers treated the couple with an intro based on the F1 theme. They also played the traditional “Here comes the Bride” at the wedding, and an Elvis Impersonator took care of the proceedings of the wedding event.
Fans trolled the Ex-Champion over his decision to marry at the F1 chapel.
In a recent tweet on X, multiple fans took quick note of the proceedings and displayed their opinions over this decision from Villeneuve. One fan claimed that he agreed with Max Verstappen’s statement and added that F1 is turning into a ‘clown show.’ Another fan commented that this marriage event looked like a stunt from Villeneuve to gain attention for F1.
Another fan added a humorous comment, saying, ‘There goes half his money,’ indicating how his wealth would be lost soon after the marriage. Some fans requested F1 focus on racing and not on other non-racing-related gimmicks. Another fan also recalled Verstappen’s comment and said how the Las Vegas GP was a ‘99% show and 1% racing’.
Finally I agree with Max V……..F1 generally has turned into a crown show.

I'd say good for them, but this feels like nothing but a stunt.

Although the fans showcased mixed emotions over the chapel and the wedding, Jacques Villeneuve surely continued the proceedings in the chapel. Despite the backlash from the fans, the authorities announced the couple as wife and husband. The Las Vegas GP continues to put on a huge spectacle for all the fans to enjoy over the American weekend.
