Formula 1 has officially rejected Andretti Cadillac‘s bid to enter the grid by 2026. The reasons mentioned by Formula One Management (FOM) were similar to those that were put forth by multiple team principals. Although the team has been denied entry any time soon, F1 mentioned that they would look differently over the status quo in 2028.

The reason that F1 put forth for officially declining the bid was that the team did not add any significant value to the sport. Additionally, including 11 teams on the grid would need to increase overall quality and competition within the sport, which was missing in Andretti’s bid. Hence, the team shuts down their hopes of joining the grid anytime soon by 2028.

However, Andretti is a significant name for the sport, and including the team had its upsides. Regardless, including Andretti on the grid would just benefit the American giant rather than the sport as a whole. Hence, Formula 1 did not see many appealing benefits from the addition of the 11th team on the grid and decided to reject the bid.

Fans were enraged over this decision and sided with Andretti Cadillac

In a recent tweet on X, multiple fans shared their piece of mind over the status quo. The majority of the comments indicated that this decision wasn’t in the best interest of the fans. One fan claimed that this decision was “Sad from F1” and definitely unexpected. Another fan highlighted that the grid did not need teams like VisaCashapp RB or Stake F1 team, but real teams like Andretti Cadillac.

Other fans chided F1 over this decision and added that it was an “awful decision” on their behalf. Another fan pointed out that this decision didn’t align with Formula 1’s pro-American ideology recently. Some people added that declining the team’s entry on the grid was “F1’s loss” and wouldn’t matter much to the American constructor.

Andretti Cadillac did put forth some great benefits to the sport. However, F1 decided in the interest of the sport and it is final. However, Andretti needs to re-evaluate its bid and look ahead for a 2028 entry onto the grid.
