“Absolutely undrivable”- Fans point out Mercedes’s off-centered star on the W14
The official renders of the Mercedes W14 show a slightly off Mercedes logo.

The front nose of the Mercedes W14
Mercedes is a Formula 1 heavyweight. The German team has achieved immense success in the sport’s turbo hybrid era. The Silver Arrows recently unveiled its challenger for the 2023 F1 season. The Silver Arrows decided to go back to an all-black color scheme. The W14 was shown on an online launch by the team, alongside renders on social media.
However, it turns out fans have spotted a fatal flaw in the car’s design. Recently, a user on Reddit brought light to the fact that the Mercedes logo on the front nose of the W14 was off-center. The iconic logo of the German team has always been prominent on the nose. Although the digital renders depict the three-pointed star off to the right side of the car by a slight margin.
Of course, this issue is possibly an error by the person making the renders at Mercedes. However, this certainly will bug many people who are concerned about symmetry and details. Although, rest assured, the Silver Arrows do not seem to have the same problem on the real-life W14 which was presented at the launch. Additionally, the team also took it for a shakedown.
Fans react as Mercedes misplaces its logo on the W14

Fans on Reddit were unhappy with this revelation. One user mentioned that this off-centered logo will make it tough for the Mercedes drivers, Lewis Hamilton, and George Russell to drive the W14. The user replied, “Absolutely undrivable.” Subsequently, another fan signalled that the person who made this fatal error will face harsh punishment. The fan commented, “Someone is getting executed.”
Additionally, one fan suggested that Mercedes might have made this decision deliberately in a bid to balance the weight of the car. The fan said, “they move the sticker left and right for weight balance based on if the track is clockwise or anti-clockwise.” Notably, the Mercedes W14 is colored in all-black in a bid to save weight. Similarly, another user wrote, “Needed a couple nanogram more to balance that side.”
Thus, a tiny mistake on part of someone at Mercedes has annoyed many fans. A livery is designed in a long process at any F1 team. As such, this issue may have not been noticed by the team personnel at that time. However, the Silver Arrows did avoid this error while painting the actual car. Thus, fans can have a sigh of relief to see the iconic three-pointed star at the exact center of the W14.
