“Insert Japan changed flag meme” – Fans disappointed as Alpine’s new A523 blue and pink livery is revealed
Alpine's new A523 blue and pink livery for the 2023 F1 season had most of the fans complaining about the car being very similar to the 2022 version.
Alpine 2023 Livery
Alpine F1 team finally unveiled their livery, and with that the 2023 Formula One car grid is a solved puzzle. In what was a hyped launch party in London, the France-based team revealed the A523, blue and pink livery. And just like it was last year, the team once again opted for two liveries. The main one will have a mix of blue and pink, with the other livery being predominantly pink.
The pink livery is set to be used by Alpine for the first three races of the 2023 F1 season. Bahrain, Saudi Arabia and Australia will see Alpine hit the road in the pink hue. The remainder of the season will see the blue-pink livery come into play. With more teams going black to save weight, Alpine too have added more black to their livery this year.
A major takeaway from Alpine’s 2023 car launch is the alleged livery leak a couple of days ago. A rather blurred image of Alpine’s A523 at Silverstone was seen doing the rounds on the Internet. Another talking point was the delay (at least 10 minutes) in their livery launch, which had fans lose patience, leading them to vent their frustrations on social media.

Fans not happy with Alpine’s A523 being very similar to their 2022 car
With only a trace of more black and sponsor placements to substantiate their new livery, Alpine fans were left disappointed. A myriad of reactions pointed out at the livery being strikingly similar to their 2022 version. While a few fans did hold back, some even went to the extent of saying, “Will look good going up in flames” and “even worse, as their lineup.”
The pick of the lot was one fan bringing up the Japan Flag changed meme – a reference to when Japan changed their flag in 1999, where a minuscule change was effected in the positioning of the flag’s red circle. Here are some of the other reactions:
Going into the 2023 F1 season – the recently-departed Fernando Alonso has given way to the young and boisterous Pierre Gasly, who from AlphaTauri will be looking forward to making a mark in a team from his native country. Teaming alongside Esteban Ocon, Alpine will be having their fingers crossed for an even better finish this season.
