Dr. Helmut Marko has played an influential role at Red Bull Racing over almost two decades. The Red Bull Motorsport Consultant encouraged the late Dietrich Mateschitz to buy an F1 team. However, the Austrian’s future has been uncertain with rumors of tensions with Team Principal Christian Horner. Now it seems that Marko is here to stay for at least a few more years.
Reports have emerged that Helmut Marko recently signed a contract extension with Red Bull GmbH. The 80-year-old is employed by the parent company instead of Red Bull’s motorsport entities. Moreover, the Austrian had revealed that he would be discussing his future as the motorsport consultant with his contract running out at the end of 2024.
Marko is infamous for his ruthless decision-making and he once had to apologize for racist and xenophobic comments about Sergio Perez. Nevertheless, the Austrian remains a loud voice in Red Bull’s decisions and has an equal say compared to Christian Horner. It seems that Helmut Marko and Horner will continue to work together for the next three years.

The user commented, “Oh dear. That is not good news. More RB drivers being demoralized.”

I appreciate his more cutthroat no-nonsense approach. I just wonder if he’s the still the best fit at his age?

Helmut Marko is one of the most controversial figures in the F1 paddock. Many fans dislike the 80-year-old for his comments. However, Marko has been a deciding factor in Milton Keynes’ F1 success. As such, it seems that the Austrian managed to gain a favorable extension for the coming years.
