Mexican racing driver Sergio Perez is looking forward to his home Grand Prix. Perez has often stated that the Mexico City GP is one of his favorites because of the continuous support from the people of his community. The Red Bull team is still fear-stricken regarding the reception at the Mexican GP due to comments made by Helmut Marko in the past.
Ahead of the Mexican GP, the 33-year-old has revealed the special helmet that he will adorn in the Sunday race. The team, along with its partners, inter.mx and America Móvil, carried out a contest called México en la Cabeza [“Mexico in the head”] for fans to design the special helmet. Fans from all around the world could partake in the competition and submit their designs. Checo was the final decider of the helmet to be worn by him during the race weekend in Mexico.

The Helmet brims with beautiful colors and designs, symbolizing the Mexican people and culture. The helmet contains a blue agave plant from which the juice for tequila production is extracted. The helmet also contains a beautiful pinata, a symbolic party animal of the Mexicans. Nature is a common theme in Mexican crafts; hence, the Helmet contains many references to the nature of Mexico. The helmet also reads “Never Give Up” helping motivate the Mexican for the race.
The fans talk about the lack of points in recent races for Sergio Perez
Fans on Twitter were quick to share their comments about the new helmet. Multiple users talked about the lack of points and performance slump that Sergio Perez is currently facing. One user claimed that the helmet was ‘dope’ and asked Perez to get some points now.

While other fans talked about the beauty of the helmet, they appreciated the attention to detail on the helmet and talked about Sergio Perez’s performance at the Mexican GP with this new lid. Another fan joked and said, “Hope the helmet teaches him to drive,” indicating Perez’s inability to score points in the recent races. Another user jokingly says that the beauty of the helmet will make him ‘c**e’.
After the helmet unveil, a fan passed a hurtful comment and asked Perez to unveil his retirement from the sport. Another fan referred to a common meme and asked Checo to “Never back down never what,” indicating his support for Perez and asking him never to give up and try to keep scoring better results. Another comment added, “For his last home grand prix” stipulating his retirement from the next season.

Sergio Perez would be looking to turn things around with his new lid at his home race this weekend. Despite having the fastest car on the grid, the 33-year-old has failed to match teammate Max Verstappen throughout the year. Although, it remains to be seen how Checo performs in front of his home fans in Mexico City.
