Felipe Massa has brought the infamous Crashgate inside back to life. The incident took place in 2008. However, Massa has filed a lawsuit against the outcome of the 2008 WDC fight. The Brazilian ardently believes that had Nelson Piquet Jr. not ‘purposefully’ crashed into the barriers during the 2008 Singapore GP, the F1 driver’s title would have been his.
Further, Felipe Massa is trying everything in his power to become the rightful 2008 F1 Drivers Champion. But he has admitted that he is yet to receive support from the Ferrari F1 team regarding the same. At the end of the 2008 season, Massa lost out on the coveted title by a margin of only one point.
As reported by Soymotor, Massa hopes to get some kind of support from Ferrari, “I am certain. That title is mine and it is the 16th Ferrari driver’s title. I have hired a team of very strong lawyers. We will fight until the end to obtain justice in this sport.“
The Brazilian added, “I do not understand why a case of manipulation cannot be verified in the correct way even if it is one, two, or 15 years later. I am optimistic, I will fight for justice until the end.” Massa has made it quite clear that he is extremely determined and expects the Maranello-based team’s support soon as in case he wins his lawsuit, it would be Ferrari’s 16th driver’s title.

Ferrari is not in favor of Felipe Massa’s lawsuit
Felipe Massa is highly motivated and optimistic regarding gaining Ferrari’s support and winning the 2008 WDC lawsuit. The Ferrari F1 team, on the other hand, is not too excited about it. Fred Vasseur was recently asked to share his thoughts regarding the ongoing situation and indicated that he is not in favor of results changing.
Moreover, the Crashgate incident occurred during the Singapore GP, which was not even the last race of the 2008 F1 season. Since then, three more events took place, and not a lot was said about the Crashgate incident during that time.
It has been more than a decade since the infamous incident, and it is a common belief that Felipe Massa’s ongoing lawsuit will end in utter disappointment. Many factors are in play, and with Massa still not having Ferrari’s support, a win in the matter is highly unlikely, no matter how adept lawyers the Brazilian hires.
