Ferrari decides to have an upgrade to address their issues with porpoising ahead of the Imola GP

As the fourth round of the 2022 season is approaching, Ferrari is looking to resolve some of its porpoising issues by introducing minor upgrades to their F1-75. The team is hesitant on introducing any major upgrade given the lack of practice sessions, thanks to the sprint race format this weekend.

During the weekend in Imola, the teams will have only one practice session before the qualifying, that’ll determine the grid for the sprint race, where a maximum of 8 championships points are up for grabs. The sprint race format has thus prevented many teams from stepping up drastically as it could hamper their chances with stable cars.

Ferrari will not bring the new floor to Imola, but there will be small anti-porpoising solutions. They already are the favorites going into the weekend and would like to further solidify their grip on the top spots of both the championships.

This weekend, rain is expected to play an important role in deciding the grid for the sprint race on Saturday. If anything, it would remind many fans of the raining Imola GP of 2021.

During the pre-season testing in Barcelona, it was only Ferrari and McLaren, who could take advantage of the wet tracks after water was sprayed by a truck. Both got to use their wet grip tires, giving them a slight advantage over the others. On the other hand, others only got to use their intermediates.

The rain can affect the tire strategy of many teams and hold the power to change the result almost immediately. This weekend, Ferrari will race in front of its home fans and would hold back nothing to ensure neither of them goes back home disappointed.
