Mattia Binotto blames lack of funds as the reason for not developing the 2022 car to fight Mercedes
Mercedes will have an extremely good chance of snatching P2 away from the Italian outfit Abu Dhabi.

Mattia Binotto’s Ferrari F1 Team has come precariously close to losing out on the second position in the Constructors Championship, and ahead of the final dash at Abu Dhabi, the Italian has indicated that his team does not have enough funds left to improve the F1-75. The Mercedes F1 Team on the other hand has been on the rise in the last few races, and at the Sao Paulo GP, they were finally able to get the first win of the 2022 F1 season.
Moreover, they also managed a 1-2 finish with Russell and Hamilton, and this has significantly reduced the gap between Ferrari and Mercedes. Going into the final race of the 2022 F1 season, the Maranello-based team is only 19 points ahead and if for some reason, one of the Ferrari drivers is not able to finish the race in Abu Dhabi, then Mercedes will have an extremely good chance of snatching P2 away from the Italian outfit.
The upsurge at Mercedes has been down to the upgrade they have been running since the US GP whereas Ferrari, on the other hand, has not tinkered with their car since Japan because of budget-related factors.
It was not a choice. We simply finished the money for the budget cap. So, simply we were at the cap and had no more opportunity of developing the car. So, we simply stayed where we were.Mattia Binotto said.
Mattia Binotto feels Mercedes could have won more races until the current stage of the season
While Mattia Binotto’s team has not taken up any upgradation work on its current livery, Mercedes has, and the Italian feels, they could have won more races until the current stage of the season, had they opted for the right tire strategies.

Mercedes could have won the last few races if they had chosen the right tires.Mattia Binotto took a sarcastic dig at the Brackley-based team by saying.
This response could have stemmed from the criticism that Binotto himself had to go through when Ferrari lost out on a few races because of the poor decision-making of its pit wall. However, all that is in the past now, and with one race remaining in the current campaign, it is going to be extremely crucial for Ferrari to do everything right and make sure they finish ahead of Mercedes in the Constructors Championship.
