Formula 1 drivers are icons. As such, it is no surprise that F1 drivers hang out with celebrities and other public figures, including politicians. One such driver is former F1 driver Nelson Piquet who was linked closely to former Brazilian President, Jair Bolsonaro. Piquet was one of the biggest sportspersons in Brazil and was one of the biggest backers of Bolsonaro. However, it turns out the former President used Piquet’s farm as a hiding place.

As per reports, Bolsonaro hid expensive jewelry at Nelson Piquet’s farm. This set of jewelry was gifted to the former Brazilian President by the government of Saudi Arabia. This happened while Jair was on tour to the Middle East in October 2019. However, it came to light to the public recently.

The former Brazilian President reportedly kept several items at this place during his tenure in office. Reportedly after losing out on the 2022 elections, Bolsonaro took back multiple items from Nelson Piquet‘s farm. These pieces were kept inside a shed at the location. Accordingly, this could potentially hint at the relations between the two famous Brazilians.

It appears that Nelson Piquet is going through a troubled time. The 70-year-old was recently fined almost $1 Million over his racist and homophobic comments about Lewis Hamilton. However, the Brazilian F1 champion apologized later for his remarks on the seven-time world champion. This case of Piquet helping Bolsonaro hide jewelry further makes the 70-year-old’s time more problematic.

Piquet is the father of racing drivers Nelson Piquet Jr and Kelly Piquet. Two-time world champion Max Verstappen is dating the latter. As such, any comments made by the former F1 driver are often linked to the Dutchman. Subsequently, the Brazilian must rethink his choices and try to prevent such PR disasters. So far, Nelson has not made a comment on the jewelry.

Thus, it seems that Nelson Piquet and Jair Bolsonaro share a close bond. This revelation indicates that Piquet knew about the happenings inside the former President’s government.
