Red Bull and Porsche
Former Formula One driver Gerhard Berger who previously participated in the sport as a racing driver for 14 years has recently made it public that according to him Porsche and Red Bull association for 2026 is almost a done deal.
On the other hand, the vasty experienced Gerhard has also suggested that a deal between Audi and Sauber could reap good results for the respective parties as well.
The Volkswagen group has been heavily linked to Formula One since the start of the 2022 season and rumors have been flying all over about a potential entry into the sport by 2026 when the new engine regulations take effect.
Moreover, it is expected that the Volkswagen group is going to enter Formula One through its brands like Porsche and Audi.
Berger is very confident about their arrival and has said, “I think with both brands.”
Berger has even gone on to suggest that according to him a deal between Porsche and Red Bull is already in place waiting for the final go-ahead.
Red Bull and Porsche are a done deal
Porsche has been heavily linked with a tie-up with Red Bull and Berger believes, “Porsche and Red Bull Racing seem to me to be fixed.”
It was suspected that Audi previously approached McLaren for an association but the German brand was not able to meet the team’s financial demands.
After the McLaren “blow up” Audi is now looking at other options and it is rumored that Aston Martin and Sauber could be on Audi’s radar to make it into F1.
“I think Sauber would have a very solid base.”
“The team is currently doing very well under the Alfa Romeo name.” said, Berger.
The 2026 season of Formula One is a bit far at the moment and till then things are going to change a lot in Formula One so it is going to be in the Volkswagen group’s best interest that they play the waiting game as there is a lot of time to delve and should not hurry into putting “pen to paper.”
Formula One is an unpredictable sport and no one knows what the future has in store for the teams and for the Volkswagen group. It would be in their best interest that they give the current situation a bit of time and make a solid decision when they are absolutely sure about what they are doing and looking to achieve through their entry into F1.
