Ferrari has been under a great deal of pressure lately due to a lack of results. The Maranello-based team is currently fourth in the constructors’ standings. Ferrari has been making many management changes after the appointment of Fred Vasseur at the start of the season. Vasseur recently talked about the timeline of Ferrari’s hirings and how they need time.
Vasseur said that the team is introspecting themselves to make the perfect hirings. He claimed that while hiring people for ‘easy’ positions doesn’t take more than a couple of months, hiring ‘difficult’ position candidates takes nearly 1.5 to two years. One of the proofs that Ferrari is working hard on their restructuring is their hiring of Loic Serra, a former Mercedes tire and suspension expert.
“We need to be a little humble, take some time to understand where we are weak and where we are strong. It’s a matter of two years , but if we start in six months, it will be two and a half years . So we have to push from the beginning. It’s not that performance comes only from aerodynamics, but from all the members of the company,” Vasseur was quoted by FormulaPassion.

Former F1 driver Marc Surer claims Ferrari employees are ‘working in fear’

While Ferrari’s both 2022 and 2023 seasons have not been going as per their expectations, the team has witnessed a big drop in performance after 2022. As they struggle with developing the right car and strategies, Marc Surer recently said that Ferrari employees fear potentially losing their jobs.
Surer has claimed that the workers fear speaking out and giving their ideas. He said that there is an atmosphere of immense fear and tension in Maranello. Reportedly, there is also a huge rift between team principal Fred Vasseur and Managing Director Benedetto Vigna, further escalating the problem.
“I’m telling you, all the people there work in fear. They don’t raise any objections. Because they’re afraid of losing their jobs. Engineers who are enthusiastic and driven are kept in check. Of course, it’s an honor to work at Ferrari. And people don’t want to jeopardize their jobs,” Surer told Formel1.de.
As Ferrari constantly puts out fires in their own house, teams like McLaren and Aston Martin have swiftly overtaken the Italian outfit with impressive upgrades. Ten races remain in the 2023 season, and it remains to be seen whether Ferrari will be able to pull themselves together and put on the show their fans have been desperately waiting for.
