Red Bull have won their second Constructors’ Championship in a row, with a record-breaking season securing them both driver and team titles in a dominant campaign for the team. With 21 race wins out of 22, the Milton Keyes team has enjoyed an incredible year.
Ferrari is looking at the rear wings of Red Bull, aware that they need to make leaps and bounds ahead if they want to catch their rivals. Ferrari team principal Fred Vasseur said that the Maranello outfit needs to have a more aggressive outlook, similar to what Red Bull did to catapult themselves to success.
My job was more to back them on the fact that we have to be aggressive, that we have to take risks, that we have to be ambitious and to not be scared of any incident or something like this. I think we did a step on this. You always have to be at the limit and this culture is where Red Bull is [performing].Fred Vasseur said, as reported by racefans.net
Ferrari finished behind Red Bull another time after failing to turn their 2022 title bid into anything substantial last year. For 2024, Ferrari and Vasseur have promised a car “95% different” to attack their rivals from a different angle.
Red Bull technical director Adrian Newey explains why Ferrari’s move would not be possible
Red Bull are currently in a period of dominance that has never been seen before, with their cars winning 38 races in the last two seasons out of the 44 that took place. Red Bull’s success came with their incredibly designed cars RB18 and RB19, giving them the edge over the competition.
This superior design can be attributed to Adrian Newey, one of the most successful F1 vehicle designers of all time. The Briton helped Red Bull achieve incredible success and was linked with a move to the more historically significant Ferrari earlier this year. However, Newey has denied any potential of this, expressing his unwillingness to leave the Red Bull family for another team.
Red Bull is a team that I’ve been very centrally involved in developing the engineering side, so it’s a team I kind of feel comfortable with. To change now, I’m not saying I would never ever change, you should never say that, but it would be like walking out on your family.Adrian Newey said, as reported by express.co.uk
Red Bull is working on making an even stronger challenger for 2024, working on their RB20 to be more dominant. After Ferrari foiled their aim for a clean sweep in 2023, a stronger car could help them achieve the feat in the 2024 season, considering they began development on the car earlier than any other team.
