The Ferrari Formula 1 team has had a pretty up-and-down 2023 campaign. The outfit has been struggling with a plethora of issues on its SF-23. Amidst the rollercoaster ride that Ferrari has been on this year, its Team Principal, Fred Vasseur, has admitted that he is not certain about fixing all the issues on the team even by 2024.
Charles Leclerc and Co. came into the ongoing campaign high on hopes of fighting for the F1 World Championship. They had the car in 2022 that was able to keep pace with Red Bull until the midway point, and keeping this in view, the team had high hopes for this year’s campaign. However, as things stand, they are fighting with the lights of Aston Martin and Mercedes, with Red Bull disappearing far into the distance.
Fred Vasseur believes that Ferrari has a lot of issues and is uncertain whether he will be able to change the team’s fortune even by the time 2024 comes around. While talking about the same, he sais, as reported by Soymotor, “When you want to improve, you have to take two steps. The first is to understand where you are weak and the second is to fix it.”
“I think we probably have a better picture of the real weakness today and we are working on it. We will try to improve before the end of the season, but it is not easy with the calendar… and at least for next year too.” Vasseur has given a very damning verdict on the future of the Ferrari F1 team.

Fred Vasseur and Co. could have a tough time securing P2

While Fred Vasseur envisions a tough time for Ferrari heading into the future, he has a big job during the 2023 F1 season. Red Bull has operated on a whole other level, but the Tifosi will expect at least a respectable second-place finish in the Constructors Championship from the team.
As things stand, the Maranello-based team is currently third in the standings with 228 points to its name and is chasing after the Toto Wolff-led Mercedes team, which has so far managed 273. The gap is not huge, and considering this, Fred Vasseur will be under immense pressure during the remaining races of the season.
The ongoing campaign has only eight races remaining on the calendar, and from Singapore onward, Ferrari can’t afford even a single slip-up, keeping in view the delicate position they are in. Aston Martin is currently on 217 points and could push the Italian team to fourth in the standings.
