Formula 1 might soon have an eleventh team on the grid. The Andretti-Cadillac bid is currently going through negotiations with the sport to enter as a new team. However, rumors had surfaced that Formula One Management had allegedly tried to get General Motors away from the project. Instead, F1 wants the automaker to join forces with an existing team. Now, GM has made it clear that it remains committed to Andretti.
It is believed that Formula 1 is interested in the arrival of General Motors. However, the sport is not convinced by Andretti’s bid. GM Presiden Mark Reuss recently stated that the auto giant will continue to be part of Michael Andretti‘s F1 ambitions. Reuss claimed that both Andretti and GM’s Cadillac would form a perfect pairing that could represent their respective legacies.
GM is committed to partnering with Andretti to race in F1.The collaboration between Andretti-Cadillac brings together two unique entities built for racing, both with long pedigrees of success in motorsport globally.

Previously, former F1 champion Mario Andretti had insisted that Formula 1’s efforts to break up Andretti-Cadillac would not be fruitful. As Andretti Global and General Motors are determined to make their way to the pinnacle of motorsport under the same banner. Certainly, it seems that F1 would not be able to bring the American carmaker without Andretti.
Can Andretti-Cadillac make it to Formula 1?
Michael Andretti’s F1 bid has got the approval of the FIA. However, Andretti-Cadillac has faced backlash from the existing 10 teams and FOM. The teams claim that the lost revenue with the arrival of an eleventh team would not be worth the commercial boosts of a new entrant. Subsequently, Andretti has had a hard time winning over the existing grid.
Nevertheless, Andretti has made it clear that they are determined to make it on the grid by 2025 or 2026. Moreover, GM has indicated that it could potentially develop its own power units in the future for Andretti-Cadillac. Although, so far it seems that FOM has not been happy with the proposal of a second American team in F1.
Andretti-Cadillac aims to capitalize on F1’s newfound popularity in the United States. Michael Andretti has made it clear that the team will bring in an IndyCar star on the grid if it gets the nod from Formula 1. Certainly, Andretti’s bid could be a massive success and bring in big sums for Formula 1. However, it remains to be seen if FOM gives the green light for the proposed eleventh team.
