German former F1 racer identifies ‘regaining self-confidence’ as Charles Leclerc’s recipe for success

Charles Leclerc has supposedly had a dismal outing in his Scarlet car this year as the driver ranks only P7 in the Driver’s Standing and is still chasing his Spanish teammate’s points tally in the 2023 season. Leclerc’s latest disappointment came at the Sao Paulo Grand Prix as the Monégasque appeared to have crashed his Ferrari during the formation lap itself. Leclerc’s early dismissal ahead of the race start meant that the Ferrari driver exited the Grand Prix without a single point.

Hans-Joachim Stuck, a former Formula 1 driver, commented on Leclerc’s woes in the current season while offering the driver advice on getting back to his former best. Stuck’s comment highlighted how the 26-year-old Monégasque has seemingly lost his confidence that he displayed during the opening rounds of the 2022 season.

Leclerc simply has to gain the self-confidence that what he does is one hundred percent right. That is the principle for success. Of course, if you are aware, like Leclerc, that you are fast, but make mistakes from time to time, you put more pressure on yourself. You start thinking - and that's not conducive. When you start thinking, it's already too late.
Stuck said [as reported by Eurosport].

The former German driver further continued to advise Leclerc as he suggested the Ferrari driver to not think too much while racing. Charles Leclerc’s latest Grand Prix win came over 16 months ago, at the 2022 Austrian Grand Prix. The paddock, alongside his fans, awaits the good fortunes of the Ferrari driver as F1 is set for an iconic inaugural race at the Las Vegas Grand Prix.

Charles Leclerc still aims for a World Championship victory with Ferrari

Ferrari, the renowned Prancing Horse in Formula 1, has faced a challenging decade in the sport. The iconic team has only managed a total of 24 victories in the 2013 season. The team continues to grapple with various issues, from race mismanagement to mechanical failures. These issues mark their longest title drought since 2007, which currently runs for 16 years. Charles Leclerc, however, has proven to be Ferrari’s lead driver in recent years. The driver recently expressed his ambition to bring home a World Championship for the legendary team.

Despite the pressure associated with ending Ferrari’s title drought, Leclerc remains focused and dedicated and claims to enjoy the process. Leclerc conveyed his passion and commitment despite his frequent on-track misfortunes this year.

I just enjoy what I do with a lot of passion and a lot of dedication in trying to do the best job possible and hopefully becoming a world champion as soon as possible. There is so much passion around the team that you, of course, feel the responsibility, but that doesn't add pressure to me.

The Monégasque still ranks behind his teammate Carlos Sainz in the driver’s standings. Ferrari will be hoping to turn the 26-year-old’s fortunes around soon as Leclerc remains determined to contribute to Ferrari’s illustrious history.
