Giancarlo Fisichella breaks silence on filing lawsuit against Eddie Jordan, claims ‘F1 is a world of sharks’
Amidst the lawsuit controversy, Giancarlo Fisichella makes comments about Eddie Jordan, Ecclestone and Vijay Malaya.
Ex-racing driver, Giancarlo Fisichella has sued Eddie Jordan, the previous owner of F1 Jordan team. Fisichella has claimed that he has not been paid yet for the 2003 season and since Eddie Jordan wouldn’t make any private agreements, he needed to take matters to the London High Court.
Italian driver, Giancarlo Fisichella, known famously as Fisico, has driven previously in F1 for Minardi, Jordan, Benetton, Sauber, Renault, Force India, and Ferrari. He is most famous for winning the Brazilian Grand Prix in 2003.
Eddie Jordan is well renowned businessman from Ireland, who owned the Jordan team in formula 1. In fact it was Eddie Jordan’s team Jordan in which Michael Schumacher debuted. Fisichella remembers his time fondly in Formula 1, especially at Renault where he was in a close relationship with the team manager Flavio Briatore. He recalls how inspite of being the second driver, after Alonso, he was still valued over at Renault.
Regarding the lawsuit, Giancarlo Fisichella says, “Because F1 is a world of sharks and Eddie too… gets away with it. It was important to me, but he didn’t perform well. I signed for him, but then he told me he had sponsor problems: the contract was changed, however, and I had to sue him to get the money.”

Future of the Jordan team without sponsors
After the decline in Jordan racing, following their lack of sponsorship, the team was forced to retire. Their last and final win was in the Brazilian Grand Prix, because of Giancarlo Fisichella.
After their retirement, Jordan Racing was brought out by Midland Group, which was owned by Alex Schnaider. The team again got sold and rebranded as Spyker Cars and following that Force India.
Force India was owned by Indian Business Tycoon – Vijay Mallaya. He got bankrupted and all his assets were liquidated and sold to Canadian Businessman Lawrence Stroll who named the team Racing Point F1. Racing Team later transitioned into Aston Martin, which competes in F1 currently.
Thus, every Formula 1 team has a lot of history and as Fisichella said, ‘sharks.’ Proceedings on his lawsuit against Jordan is yet to begin and he hasn’t given any public comments as of now. But if what Giancarlo claims is true, he ought to be paid by Jordan, especially concerning how he got Jordan its last win.
