The Haas F1 team faced unfortunate race results on their home soil in Austin, Texas. Nico Hulkenberg finished just under points at the 11th position. The uncertainty in track limits at turn six resulted in an overlook of penalties by FIA for multiple drivers on the track.

Ahead of the Mexican GP, the Haas team had submitted a 28-page dossier to FIA. This included all the on-board footage of drivers violating the track limits at turn six. Additionally, Haas requested a rewrite of the entire classification of the race and for the amendment of the results in favor of Haas drivers.

Although Hulkenberg faced three-time penalties for the race, Alex Albon, Sergio Perez, and Lance Stroll were supposed to be penalized for the violations. A successful appeal from Haas could result in a complete change in the US GP race results.

The FIA agreed to hear Haas’ petition on Wednesday and summoned the relevant teams (Williams, Red Bull, and Aston Martin) for the hearing as well. The stewards present at the US GP will make the final call depending on the ‘significance and relevancy’. A spokesperson from FIA has also commented on the new developments regarding this issue.

The FIA will update its monitoring infrastructure to provide enhanced coverage to ensure that any potential breaches can reliably be identified during the race in future.
Said by a Spokesperson from FIA, as reported by motorsport.com.

FIA also vowed to increase monitoring at the COTA GP and ensure that these issues would not be repeated in the future.

What would a successful appeal result for the drivers?

The result of the appeal depends entirely on the hands of the FIA now. The drivers Alex Albon, Sergio Perez, and Lance Stroll would receive ungodly amounts of penalties for track limit violations and get surpassed by other racers.

The appeal would also benefit other racers including Valtteri Bottas, Pierre Gasly, Yuki Tsunoda, and many more drivers. Gasly and Tsunoda would gain an additional spot on the results and Perez and Stroll would be surpassed by the other drivers. Logan Sargeant would also move up a spot in the race.

Haas racing team has been facing undesirable results in the recent races. Kevin Magnussen DNF’ed from the race into turn one due to an unfortunate racing incident with Alex Albon. Despite the setback, the team is showing great improvements and is looking hopeful for better results in the remaining races.
