Following a thrilling 2021 Formula One season finale in the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, where Red Bull’s Max Verstappen won his first F1 championship, fans anticipated a brilliant start to the 2022 season of Formula One.

The ten Formula One racing teams and their drivers are preparing for the eagerly awaited summer break after finishing off with half of the races on the F1 calendar. This season’s first half has been nothing short of spectacular with a multitude of things that have taken place in these 11 races. We’ve compiled a list of all the drivers who have ranked from 11 to 15 in the first-half of the season.

15. Daniel Ricciardo

It is safe to say that Australian driver Daniel Ricciardo has had a troubling first-half of the season with various speculations about a premature exit for him from McLaren. The driver has failed to perform on the same level as teammate Lando Norris or even outperform him for the case. McLaren CEO has admitted how Ricciardo has “failed to meet their expectations.” Ricciardo had to retire his MCL36 in the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix due to an engine failure. He has failed to have a top-10 finish in 8 out of the 11 races that have taken place this season. He has accumulated a total of 17 points in these 11 races.

The hope of a possible return to Red Bull Racing was shattered for Pierre Gasly this season when the Austria-based racing team confirmed the extension of Sergio Perez’s contract. It wasn’t long until AlphaTauri confirmed that Gasly is going to continue to race for them in 2023. The French driver has had an average first-half of the season with the driver having a DNF in the inaugural Miami Grand Prix. His best finish this season was at the Azerbaijan Grand Prix at P5. Gasly has a total of 16 points to his name as of now this season.

From having to deal with awful racist remarks on his announcement of joining Alfa Romeo to having a shave with danger in the British Grand Prix, Zhou has had quite the trouble this season as of now. Zhou was involved in a crash at Silverstone where his car toppled over. The halo of the car came to his rescue. The driver has been quite unlucky with 4 DNFs plaguing his first-half of the season. He has managed to score a total of 5 points in the championship as of now. His best finish this season has been at the Canadian Grand Prix where Zhou finished at P8.

12. Mick Schumacher

Mick Schumacher’s start to the 2022 season of Formula One started off quite rocky, but he’s made some serious headway in the last couple of races. After a scary crash in the Monaco Grand Prix where his VF-22 was split in half, Schumacher has went on to score points in the British Grand Prix and the Austrian Grand Prix. The German driver will always remember the race at Silverstone as he scored his maiden F1 points in that race after a long wait. His best finish this season has been at the Austrian Grand Prix where he finished at P6 after starting from P9. He’s currently placed fifteenth in the World Drivers’ Standings with a total of 12 points.

11. Kevin Magnussen

A surprise to the Formula One world in the beginning of the season was when Haas announced the return of Danish driver Kevin Magnussen to the American-based racing team. He had a fantastic start to the season as he finished at P5 in the season-opener at Bahrain. He went on to score points in four other races this season. He finished at P10 in the British Grand Prix this season along with teammate Mick Schumacher to give Haas their first double-point finish since Germany 2019. He’s currently placed eleventh in the World Drivers’ Standings with a total of 22 points to his name.
