“He always tries to make me feel better,” Charles Leclerc reveals Vettel texted him post French GP error
Charles and Sebastian
Charles Leclerc the Ferrari Formula One driver after Sebastian Vettel’s retirement news has opened up about the text message that he received from him after the French GP.
The text was sent to the Monegasque driver in order to console him for the crash that has put his 2022 Driver’s Championship challenge in real jeopardy.
Sebastian Vettel, yesterday, announced that he has decided to leave F1 at the end of 2022 and this has brought a huge surge of tribute messages that have come the way of the former four-time World Champion.
Just like all the F1 enthusiasts, Charles Leclerc has also joined the masses in wishing Sebastian the best of luck and has given insights into the kind of person he is.
During Thursday’s press conference, Leclerc gave a deep review of the time he spent with Sebastian when he was at Ferrari and while talking highly of him said, “There are loads of moments, but it’s definitely not an on-track moment.”
“It’s all the moments at the factory and the way also how our relationship evolved throughout the years because I arrived the first year and I was super impressed.”
“And I think I was probably weird to him because I was just shy and didn’t know what to say when I was with him.”
“But he’s a friend and he always texts me, as he did after Sunday, and always tries to make me feel better when I’m having a tough time. So, it’s nice to see how much I’ve grown since I first met him.“
Charles Leclerc on his crash at the French Grand Prix
Charles Leclerc during the press conference also talked about the crash he had during the French Grand Prix and while talking about it, said, “Well, I need to, there’s nothing that will help me [by] dwelling on my mistake or staying in the past on that mistake.”
“I did that mistake, it cost me lots of points, I am aware of it. And that’s it.“
“Now I just need to move on, focus 100% on this weekend, try to do the best possible, try to win this race, and then I’m sure it will go well.”
Leclerc while dwelling on the crash dismissed any kind of rumors that suggested his incident was due to an external factor and said, “I really hate to say ‘oh, it’s the wind, or a bird’ [that caused a crash].”
“I’m driving the car ultimately, and I did a mistake. So, yes, the conditions change a little bit every lap – and that’s for everyone.”
“It’s obviously trickier when you are on the limit, but I think everyone is on the limit.”
The upcoming race is the Hungarian Grand Prix and given the shenanigans that took place last season at the Hungaroring, it is going to be anybody’s guess as to who is going to go into the summer break with the bragging rights.
Can Charles Leclerc close the first leg of the 2022 season with a win to his name?
