Sergio Perez was able to come out triumphant at the end of the Singapore GP and F1 expert, Christian Danner believes that the Mexican was lucky to not have his first-place finish taken away from him.

Sergio Perez was seen getting extremely close to the safety car when it was active, and despite getting warned by stewards, he committed the offense on multiple occasions. Danner thinks that FIA was very lenient to give him only a 5-second penalty.

Christian Danner being a former motorsports racing driver and current F1 expert, very well knows how the time penalties and stuff work, and thus has indicated that the stewards were lenient with Perez in Singapore.

While talking about the same, Danner said, “You don’t care what happens at the back – the more chaos, the better. That is exactly what this rule is against. It is therefore surprising that he makes the same mistake twice when he has already been warned.

“He managed to talk his way out of it the first time. He said on the radio that visibility was so bad. The stewards were very lenient. The second time they had to give a penalty. The five seconds is actually the mildest penalty there is”

The German is not pleased with the penalty that the Mexican starlet was given for his safety car antics and believes that he could have been given a more severe penalty.
