“He was bang average at best,” Fans not ‘too excited’ about having Nico Hulkenberg back in F1 next year
Nico Hulkenberg
Nico Hulkenberg, the Aston Martin reserve driver, is in the running for the 2023 F1 seat on the Haas team, and ahead of the upcoming United States Grand Prix, the German has indicated that he is slowly changing his routine to meet the demands of the sport.
Nico Hulkenberg, despite being in a reserve driver role at Aston Marin, has taken part in a couple of Grand Prix this year and has done well, considering he was asked to jump in the AMR22 on short notice when Vettel caught covid during the early races of the season.
However, despite taking part in a few races, Hulkenberg was not high on anybody’s list for next year, and his name has only recently popped up in the conversation for the Haas seat.
The 35-year-old was recently asked about his chances for 2023 and Hulkenberg said, “Recently I have been picking up the training intensity a bit again.”
The German has made it absolutely clear that he is very serious about the opportunity at Haas and wants to get the feel of racing in F1 once again.
Fans are not ecstatic about having Nico Hulkenberg in F1 next year
While Nico Hulkenberg has shown a strong desire to get back in F1, the fans of the sport are not too excited about the predicament and have indicated that the German should stay away, considering he is 35 years old.
Someone named Xanthon while having his say on Hulkenberg said, “People need to let it go, Hulk is 35. He has been away for 3 years.”
“He is not Hamilton, Vettel, or Alonso. He will not make a big difference to whatever teams he joins. Unless there are absolutely no other options, it makes little sense to bring him in as a full-time driver.”
Another F1 fan wrote, “He was bang average at best.”
The reason behind the negative comments could be that the fans want to see Mick Schumacher continue at the Haas team for next year.
As per the rumor mill, Mick Schumacher and Nico Hulkenberg are the favorites to get the seat on the American team, and considering how up and down the 2022 season has been for Schumacher, the 35-year-old could really get the seat for next year.
