“He was looking in his right mirror and wasn’t looking where I was,” Lando Norris blames Pierre Gasly for Miami crash

“He was looking in his right mirror and wasn’t looking where I was,” Lando Norris blames Pierre Gasly for Miami crash

Lando Norris after an unsatisfied Qualification session started  P8, just behind Pierre Gasly who started P7. With Gasly having a great start passing overtaking Lewis, he was on the way to back a lot of points for the AlphaTauri team

The mistake committed by Fernando Alonso caught the Frenchman red-handed leading him to a damaged car. Which later on turned the tides for Lando and gave him a three spin DNF.

Gasly got his car damaged on turn 1 and was unable to drive the car further ahead. He later got out of the track on turn 8 and directly came in seeing himself beside the Mclaren of Lando

The Brit later blamed Gasly for the DNF caused by his sudden drift on track but relaxed down a bit if it was the car that didn’t support the driver “He obviously went off the track, he had a lot of damage and so on. In my opinion, he just drifted across to the left quite a bit.”

The crash caused both the drivers to DNF and no one earned a point after the clash, neither did Alonso who after a 5 second time penalty finished P11.

But the maximum McLaren would have got from Norris’ finish was P8 as termed by the Brit itself. He said they were lucky to have only lost some points as the maximum expected from the car was to finish behind the Mercedes and the Alfa.

“It was not like we lost out on a lot of points. Maybe eighth would have been the best we could have done. The Alfa Romeos and Mercedes were faster.”

Brit released all his frustration and ended up terming his race an “unlucky” one. He managed to convince himself saying Gasly have been watching his right view mirrors and the left one and that gave him a sudden collide with the Mclaren.

”Just on the onboard, it kinks right and he is sort of coming straight across it. If it is because of the damage”. “It looked like he was looking in his right mirror and wasn’t looking where I was.”
