“He will give everything until the last moment,” Mike Krack lavishes praise on Sebastian Vettel’s dedication to Aston Martin“
Sebastian Vettel
Sebastian Vettel is an icon of the sport. Winning 4 back to back world championships has led to the German driver to have a permanent place in the F1 Hall of Fame. The Aston Martin driver has not been very happy with the team’s performance lately which might be one of the reasons that led him to his decision. After parting ways with Ferrari in 2021, Sebastian wanted a new start with Racing Point which was to be rebranded to Aston Martin in 2021. After their performance in 2020, it looked like Vettel had found the perfect seat to fight at the top.
When Vijay Mallya was running the team back then, they used minimal funds and extracted the most performance out of the car. The team achieved multiple podiums with Sergio Perez and overall the squad was very efficient. This all changed after the team went into administration and Lawrence Stroll took over.
Since then, the team has had increased funding but it hasn’t really transformed into good results yet. In 2021, the car performance was not up to the mark. Fans thought that the 2022 rules and regulations chain would help the team climb up the constructors ladder. This unfortunately did not happen and the team’s performance has become abysmal this season.
During the 2022 Hungarian GP weekend, Sebastian Vettel announced his retirement from the sport. This did not necessarily surprise anyone in the paddock but it definitely came as a shock. With the team’s poor performance, it was obvious that Sebastian would rather spend time with his family rather than spend time away from them.
That too while racing at the back of the grid where it won’t matter where he finishes. Yet the 4 time world champion is still more dedicated than ever to do his job which also includes developing the 2023 car.
Although, Vettel won’t be benefitted by it, he is still a professional and will do everything in his power to move the team forward after a difficult season.

“He’s fully on it,” Aston Martin team boss Mike Krack on Sebastian Vettel’s efforts on the 2023 car
When asked if Sebastian Vettel was still thinking of future improvements to the car, this is what Krack had to say, “Yes, yes. And that is there where you see also how professional he is and how committed he still is. Actually, in the debrief he said something today, ‘For next year’s car, please, think about that.’ So he’s fully on it.”
It will be sad to see Sebastian Vettel leave the sport after this season. The 4 time world champion has been a big part of F1 for so many years. Although I don’t think that fans will miss Seb driving the Aston Martin at all. With all the troubles that the German had to encounter with Aston, it will now be a very calm and less stressful life for the soon to be Ex-F1 driver. He will truly be missed.
