Franz Tost led the Red Bull sister team since the Austrian giant acquired Minardi in 2006. The 67-year-old played a pivotal role in developing the Faenz-based team as well as helping out junior drivers. However, Tost decided to retire after the 2023 F1 season. Now, Red Bull Motorsport Consultant Dr. Helmut Marko has claimed that the former AlphaTauri boss will take up a new role for the foreseeable future.

Marko revealed that Franz Tost would serve as a Consultant to the two Red Bull teams in 2024 and 2025. The 80-year-old claimed that both Red Bull and Toro Rosso would be able to call up Tost for the next two years. Although, the 67-year-old had complete freedom to partake in other activities as long as it didn’t clash with his F1 duties.

He [Franz Tost] will be doing stand-by consulting for the years 2024 and 2025. If we or the people at AlphaTauri need him, they can contact him. But he is free to do anything else that doesn’t clash with Formula 1.

Moreover, Tost himself has claimed that negotiations for his new role would take place after January 15. The 67-year-old will stay in the Red Bull family despite having retired from the role of Team Principal. Certainly, Tost’s experience remains invaluable to Milton Keynes and as such he would still be contacted at least for two years.

Franz Tost rules out a career as an F1 pundit

Usually, retired F1 drivers or team bosses opt to become pundits in the paddock. This allows them to stay connected to the sport while sharing their opinions. However, Franz Tost has made it clear that he would not go down this route. The 67-year-old mentioned that he is not good at making politically correct comments.

The former AlphaTauri boss admitted that he would be a brutally honest pundit. Tost pointed out that Ralf Schumacher has a similar personality and the German is disliked by many for his comments. Subsequently, Franz Tost reckoned that if he were to become a presenter, he would take an even more extreme approach.

That [being a pundiy] doesn’t suit me. Ralf Schumacher... speaks too clearly for most people. I would be even more extreme.

Certainly, it seems that Franz Tost would stay away from becoming an F1 presenter. The 67-year-old is happy with his current position with Red Bull. However, it remains to be seen how negotiations go for Tost. Fans would be excited to see the former AlphaTauri boss stay in the world of F1 for the next two seasons.
