Helmut Marko reveals that the team’s experimentation with Perez’s Red Bull led to his crash at the Italian GP. Perez ran wide through the infamous Parabolica into the gravel, before losing control and touching the barriers.
Red Bull were supposedly experimenting with the downforce on Checo’s car. Defending Perez, Marko went on to say, “We experimented a bit with the level of downforce, in the long run we messed up the balance with our new attempt.” Red Bull’s Advisor detailed the crash as he continued. “The car was relatively oversteering, which is why Checo slipped into the gravel. The car was difficult to drive and not in the right balance.”
Helmut Marko coming to Perez’s defence seems like a rare sight but it surely has come this weekend and it seems like a welcome sight indeed. Sergio Perez on the other hand, looks to improve upon his recent struggles and deliver great results starting this weekend, at the Italian GP.
Fans speculate reasons over Sergio Perez’s lack of pace in his Red Bull
Sergio Perez was 0.4 seconds behind Max Verstappen’s lap-time during FP2 at the Dutch GP. This difference only magnified when the Red Bull pair made their way to the Main Race at Zandvoort on Sunday. Even after Perez gaining the lead while being one of the first drivers to put on the intermediates, Verstappen closed him down clocking laps a full second faster than the Mexican eventually emerging as the victor.
This fans seems to suggest that Red Bull have provided Perez with a more ‘limited’ version of the RB-19 to evade a possible FIA investigation. Some think Perez’s car and results are used by the Austria team to avoid such possible investigation, never prompting the FIA to look into any speed-boosting mechanisms given the car’s performance.
