After Liam Lawson’s brilliant performance at the Singapore GP, Red Bull is left confused about their future line-up for their B team, AlphaTauri. Lawson was brought on merely as a replacement for the injured Daniel Ricciardo but has proven himself worthy of a full-time seat in Formula 1. Questions are being asked to Red Bull about who amongst the three drivers currently at AlphaTauri, will get the seat for next year.

Helmut Marko commented on Red Bull’s abundance of drivers amongst limited seats. He said [according to F1ingenerale], “We have an abundance problem as drivers. Anyone who doesn’t drive in AlphaTauri next year will still be an immediate replacement and simulator driver for Red Bull.” This remark suggests that any one of the three drivers will be used as the replacement driver for AlphaTauri and even Red Bull while the other two are signed on a contract.

This means there still isn’t a confirmation of the exact line-up that Red Bull looks to employ for next year. The team is known to have started the season with a different driver and finished it with another on multiple instances. Maybe that’s the tactic they’ll employ, trial and error.

Martin Brundle claims AlphaTauri saving Red Bull from a penalty is – a ‘sporting disappointment’

Red Bull’s frontman, Max Verstappen impeded Yuki Tsunoda’s hot lap during qualifying. The FIA noted the incident and scheduled to hold a hearing regarding a possible penalty against Verstappen.

Apparently, AlphaTauri didn’t even bother sending a representative to the hearing. Martin Brundle critiques this move. “Quite how Max Verstappen didn’t also get a penalty for impeding Yuki Tsunoda in qualifying when considering other penalties applied this season was a great surprise to many in the paddock.”

FIA later revealed that Max Verstappen was not penalized. Brundle termed the whole affair ‘a sporting disappointment’. And even at the pre-race interviews ahead of the Japanese GP, Lewis Hamilton asked Sergio Perez about his comments on his teammate getting only a slap on the wrist for impeding Tsunoda thrice–but Checo refused to comment.
