“He’s our priority number one,” Yamaha confident of locking up Fabio Quartararo for 2023
Fabio Quartararo
Fabio Quartararo seems to have found some form after his win at the Portuguese GP. Yamaha have let the reigning world champion down as the M1 has seriously lacked any sort of pace and grip this year around. This had given fuel to rumors of Fabio Quartararo leaving the team by the end of this season. It seemed like Fabio Quartararo was disappointed by the development of the new M1.
The Frenchman is one of the most talented drivers in MotoGP who has the capability to match the very high standards of Marc Marquez and Valentino Rossi. But for that he would want help from his team for him to be able to express himself on the track. He has proven last year that he is absolute class on a bike which gives him some sort of assistance.
Yamaha seemed to have found some answers in Portugal but we wait to see if the team can do it consistently. It’s imperative for the team to do that if they want to keep hold of their prodigy who’s the ability to take the team back to their glory. It’s been speculated that the team is confident of keeping hold of the youngster despite its challenging start to the season. Although last week’s win puts Fabio Quartararo on top but still there’s work to be done.
Fabio Quartararo set to extend his contract at the end of the season, according to Lin Jarvis
Yamaha MotoGP team boss Lin Jarvis is positive of Fabio Quartararo staying with them at the end of the season. He said, “For sure, he’s our priority number one. There’s no question about that, I think that’s obvious to everybody.”
“I would like to believe Yamaha is also in his mind his best option.”
“So, important for us in this process is for him to feel confident and comfortable with the programme we’re going to put together for 2023 and 2024.”
“So, I would say prior to the summer break, by the end of June in my opinion we should be concluded. And it would be nice if we could do it before then,” as reported by motorsport.
Yamaha has the one of the best in the business riding for them right now and if they want the same to continue, they will have to upgrade their M1 to make it competitive for Fabio Quartararo.
