Kevin Magnussen’s comeback to F1 after a year of break from the sport was spectacular and nothing short of a fairy tale. After being called up in the last stages before the 2022 season began and adapting quickly, the driver finished P5 in the season opener, bagging the first points of the season for Haas.

Since his arrival, Kevin has appeared to be sharing good chemistry with his teammate from Germany, Mick Schumacher, who’s yet to win his first championship points. And now, the Danish driver has showered praise for the young driver.

As quoted by Planet F1, Kevin Magnussen said, “If I can help him, that helps the team, and that’s good for me. He’s very keen to learn, and asking questions. You don’t always have that between drivers – sometimes they’re too proud or whatever [and] don’t want to work together and ask questions. Maybe some drivers are scared of showing weakness, but Mick doesn’t really care about that.”

For a team, good chemistry between the drivers is a good sign. It allows both of them to grow, and consequently, the team grows as well. And Kevin has spoken of excellent chemistry between him and Mick, with no ego clashes, despite the former being nearly 8 years senior to the latter in F1.

Both Mick and Kevin have given a good start to Haas. The team and the drivers both look confident going into the races, which has brought a smile to everyone’s face.

Kevin said, “I’m more relaxed. If he goes better than me, because I’ve helped him out so much, then I can then learn from him and that will then take me to another level. That’s how you build up and bring each other forward. That’s what I hope will happen.”

“He’s a super nice guy, very down to earth and polite, and he’s good with everyone. Everyone likes him. Immediately, he’s been very open. He just wants to learn and, in the debriefings, his feedback is good. He doesn’t make excuses, he’s very honest with the team,” concluded Magnussen.

With Imola approaching this weekend, Haas would be on the lookout to inject some of its lost pace. The drivers after a disappointing weekend in Australia will also be motivated to hunt for some points.
