“Honda interested in working together again,” Helmut Marko reveals Red Bull’s engine partnership choices

Honda and Red Bull
Helmut Marko, the Red Bull team adviser has recently revealed that talks are underway with Honda over a potential engine deal. Last month it was announced that Red Bull was not going to tie up with Porsche, and now recently it has come to light that the Austrian team could land a deal with Honda again.
Honda left F1 at the end of the 2022 F1 season, but despite that, is very much involved in the project that Red Bull has set up since it departed from the pinnacle of motor racing. The Energy drink team receives constant technical support from the Japanese brand.
Moreover, Marko has admitted that building its own engine is not the only option on the table for the Red Bull F1 team. When Honda left last year, there were even talks of a tie-up between Red Bull and Ferrari.
Helmut Marko while addressing it said, “But you can imagine that if we had had a Ferrari engine now, it would not run as well as in the factory car.”

Helmut Marko has indicated that Red Bull can join forces with Honda again
Red Bull was very optimistic about striking a deal with Porche for the upcoming years of the sport, but as that option is not on the table anymore, they have switched their attention to their previous trusted partners.
Honda and Red Bull have worked well together in the past and it was this combination that helped Max Verstappen in winning the 2021 F1 World Championship.
Since the end of 2021, the Milton-Keynes-based team has set up its own engine unit under the name Red Bull powertrains, but as things stand, they can again be seen working with Honda in F1.
While talking about the potential tie-up Marko said, “There are now talks with Honda, who are showing interest in working together again after all.”
