Pierre Gasly had a torrid time at Paul Ricard during the Qualifying session where he was knocked out in Q1. The Frenchman is extremely disappointed with his outing in front of his home fans.

Pierre Gasly’s disappointment was increased 10 folds when his teammate, Yuki Tsunoda was able to his AT03 in P8 at the end of the Q3 session of Qualifying.

Yesterday we were extremely comfortable with the car in the Top 10, with some margin to be even faster and since FP3 I haven’t been able to deliver the same performance.”

The AlphaTauri driver has stressed the fact that he missed out on Q2 by only a couple of hundredths and believes there was more performance in the car that he just wasn’t able to extract.

Gasly has blamed himself for not making it out of Q1 and this makes sense as during Friday the 26-year-old was supremely fast and was comfortably in the top 10.

During Quali, Pierre was only able to manage a time of 1:33:439 which was not good enough for a Q2 appearance and this bad result came on a day when he was looking to put on a show in front of his home fans.

However, all is still not lost as the points are dished out on Sunday, and given that the race is going to involve a lot of tire degradation, anything is possible and the Frenchman certainly should not lose hope.

Racing in front of home fans is an opportunity that only a select few drivers are able to get in Formula One and during tomorrow’s race if some incidents take place, then he would certainly be in the running for a top 10 finish.

Pierre has got the craft to go past cars and given that Carlos and Kevin are starting from the back because of penalties, he has already propelled himself into P14 which is a decent starting position.
