Daniel Ricciardo has addressed the persistent speculations that he will have to leave McLaren at the end of this year. The Woking-based racing team made the announcement that Alex Palou has been signed until 2023 late Tuesday night or early Wednesday morning. It is yet unknown where the defending IndyCar champion will take the wheel, but there is no doubt that he poses a danger to the Australian driver’s position.

Ricciardo admits in a tweet that he is aware of the numerous rumours swirling around his future at McLaren. “I am committed to McLaren until the end of next year and am not walking away from the sport. Appreciate it hasn’t always been easy, but who wants easy!,” said Ricciardo in the tweet.

Although Daniel Ricciardo’s contract officially runs through 2023, it has previously been made clear that there is a chance for both parties to end it one year sooner. In any scenario, Ricciardo is still optimistic and certain that he will drive for the Woking-based British racing team again next year.

“I’m working my ass off with the team to make improvements and get the car right and back to the front where it belongs. I still want this more than ever. See you in Le Castellet,” added the 33-year-old driver in the tweet.

McLaren driver Patrick O’Ward, who finished second in the 2021 IndyCar season, might potentially pose a challenge. There are lots of choices for McLaren, but Ricciardo believes that nothing should change in Formula One for 2023.
