“I didn’t expect us to start the season so strong,” Charles Leclerc focused despite a surprisingly convincing start to the season

Charles Leclerc

Since this season of F1 began, Charles Leclerc has pressed the accelerator hard and blasted his way towards the finishing line of the drivers’ championship. The Ferrari driver currently stands on top of the leaderboard with 71 points and is clear by 34 points of the second-placed Mercedes’ George Russell.

He has won two of the first three races of the season and is the favorite going to the fourth race as well. Since at the weekend Imola, the sprint race format will takeover, Charles might grab the definite extra eight points of the sprint race apart from the usual 25. If accomplished, this could put him miles clear of the defending champion Max Verstappen.

Charles speaking about this powerful start, said“I didn’t expect such a good start. I can’t wait to be in Imola.” And comparing his current form with 2019’s form, he remarked, “In 2019 I was strong in Qualifying, but then in the race, I lacked management and vision, and sometimes I lacked pace. This year, on the other hand, is much better.”

Charles Leclerc’s take on being robbed and recognition

Charles Leclerc

Charles Leclerc is one of the most widely known F1 pilots. He boasts a huge following on social media, including 6.9 million followers on Instagram and 1.7 million on Twitter.

The Monegasque driver was recently robbed in Italy around 10 PM, when he was out with his athletic trainer. His Richard Mille watch worth 300k Euros was stolen. The driver, when jokingly asked if he’ll arrive on time for the race, said, “Unfortunately it wasn’t a good experience. Yes, I’ll try to be on time in Imola.”

He also recalled an incident in Australia this year where a taxi driver failed to recognize him. Charles narrated, “The same thing happened to me this year also in Australia, not after the victory but before the weekend. The taxi driver said ‘Eh Ferrari doesn’t look bad this year’. Maybe in Italy it happens a little less!”

With the great form that both Leclerc and Ferrari are in, the titles seem inevitable to come to them. Red Bull must find a way to boost themselves and spread out the damage done over the next few races.
