Oscar Piastri

Oscar Piastri has not signed a contract with Alpine for the 2023 Formula One season and this has been confirmed by the Australian himself via his Twitter account.

Just an hour ago it was announced by the French team that Oscar Piastri has been tied down to a contract for 2023 but after Piastri’s shock announcement the second seat saga at Alpine has taken a whole new turn.

Alpine has been in the news ever since the start of the summer break and it has been all for the wrong reasons. Firstly, Fernando Alonso announced that he has moved to Aston Martin for the 2023 F1 season, and now just after Alpine’s confirmation of Piastri for 2023, the 21-year-old has come up with a statement that has sent shockwaves throughout the Formula One community.

Piastri via his Twitter account has written,I understand that, without my agreement, Alpine F1 has put out a press release late this afternoon that I am driving for them next year. This is wrong and I have not signed a contract with Alpine for 2023. I will not be driving for Alpine next year.”

The former F3 and F2 Champion has completely dismissed the announcement by the Alpine F1 team and has admitted that he is not going to drive for them during the 2023 F1 season.

Oscar is considered one of the most high-profile drivers that do not have a seat in F1 at the moment, and McLaren has previously shown their interest in the French team’s reserve driver.

The rumors of Oscar going to McLaren picked up pace recently when Fernando Alonso announced his move to Aston Martin, moreover, Piasri has blatantly admitted that he is not going to drive for the French team next season, given all this, there are very good chances that McLaren might have pulled off the heist of the season.
