Kevin Magnussen the Haas Formula One driver has recently talked about the issues that put a halt to his progress during last weekend’s Azerbaijan Grand Prix.

Magnussen’s Haas was one of four Ferrari-powered cars that broke down during the Baku weekend. With Haas, the two blood-red Ferrari’s also broke down and also an Alfa Romeo of Guanyu Zhou.

Including the Baku nightmare, Haas now has gone four races without putting any points on the board for their efforts. Magnussen’s Haas was looking set for points finish until it broke down and the Dane was left with no option but to park it on the side of the track.

Magnussen has blamed the Ferrari engine for the reliability and feels they have the performance in the car to score points on a consistent basis.

We were in a position to score points in Monaco, then had a power unit issue,” said Magnussen.

Today [Sunday], again we were in a position to score points. So, I’m not really worried about performance, I’m just more worried about the reliability. We’ve just got to stay at it, keep positive and it will go our way sooner or later.”

Ferrari team principal Mattia Binotto after the Baku weekend said that the failure of its customer teams will be analyzed as carefully as their own. It is very clear that everyone is concerned and wants a fix as soon as possible.

Kevin Magnussen was not sure what went wrong with his car in Baku

After Magnussen’s incident, the Dane was not sure as to what went wrong and said, “I don’t know what happened.”

I lost power, that’s what I know, but I don’t know exactly what broke, so I gave up. So yes, unfortunate, onto the next one.”

While Magnussen’s progress was brought to an abrupt halt, the other Haas of Mick Schumacher was able to run for the whole duration of the race but lacked the speed to overtake the other rivals. Mick finished 14th in Baku.

Schumacher while talking about his adventure on the Baku Street Circuit said, “We clearly weren’t [able to make progress on Sunday]. It’s something that we have to look at.”

I think we didn’t have one Safety Car, no red flag either. I think I was betting on three Safety Cars and one red flag at least! But it didn’t happen, so obviously we did our maximum and the pace was just not there.”

I think from Saturday onwards we were a bit smoother. But obviously, on a track like this, it’s the Friday that matters. And I think we want FP2 to find the perfect set-up for qualifying. It’s not that easy, and I think that’s what kind of made everything a bit more difficult.”

And then obviously the whole qualifying incidents that we had were not mega either, so it’s kind of what it is. Just got to look ahead to try to do better.”

The Haas team is currently 8th in the Constructors standings and if they want to finish close to the mid-field pack, then they have got to pull their socks up and start putting in solid performances from the Canadian Grand Prix onwards.

After their lapses in the last four races, Aston Martin is on the tail of the American team and if their poor run of form continues in Canada, then there are chances that they can slip to 9th after the Canadian Grand Prix.
