Kevin Magnussen
kevin Magnussen, the Haas F1 driver, has just done the unthinkable and landed his VF-22 in pole position for tomorrow’s Brazil GP sprint race.
The qualifying session for the Brazil GP was run under wet conditions where rain was constantly playing its tricks but despite this fact, Kevin Magnussen was able to put in a stellar lap when it mattered and has found himself in P1 ahead of Max Verstappen.
During the Q3 session of qualifying, the rain was easing off and getting strong throughout the session, and when the window was open for slick tires, the Haas F1 team was able to get Magnussen out of track bang on time, and according to Magnussen, that was the crucial factor behind him ending up in P1.
Moreover, while dwelling on his outing during the post-qualifying interviews, he added, “A long time. I still can’t believe it. What a phenomenal job the team did to put me out there to be the first car on the track and it was starting to rain. So, the most important part was to get the best part of the track for me. Amazing job by them!“
“You have to go for it. The car was strong and we were in contention for Q3 and looking good enough for that it was drizzly but not fully dry. I think our car was good with that.“
Kevin Magnussen has got a mighty task ahead of him during tomorrow’s Sprint Race
Kevin Magnussen, going into the Brazil GP qualifying had not in the wildest of his dreams thought of getting pole position for the Sprint race, but now he is in that position and has got a mighty task ahead of him.
The Dane has got the 2022 F1 World Champion, Max Verstappen lining up alongside him for tomorrow’s Sprint race, and knowing how aggressive the Dutchman can be going into Turn 1, Magnussen could find himself behind Verstappen after some initial scraps of the race.
Moreover, rain is also expected to play a role tomorrow, and things could get extremely interesting for Magnussen and Haas when the light will go green at the Interlagos Circuit.
Considering everything, would Kevin Magnussen be able to keep Max Verstappen’s RB18 behind him by the end of the Sprint race?
