“I think his personality would light Aston Martin,” Tom Clarkson speculates Daniel Ricciardo’s potential move after McLaren

Daniel Ricciardo
Tom Clarkson, an F1 journalist, speculates Daniel Ricciardo’s next move if the driver is made to leave McLaren after the 2022 season. The journalist took the possibility for the Aussie to take a step in the Aston Martin garage after this season. Alan Jones earlier mentioned the contract terms that don’t matter in the sport, and there are postulates that could end Riccardo’s McLaren drive before his contract ends, in 2023.
Daniel Ricciardo has been struggling to get himself into the MCL36 completely and has a streak of underperformed races to his name. The only major highlight of his McLaren career was the win at Monza 2021. But it has been a downfall after that and much worse this season, he has only managed to get himself inside the top 10 on two occasions this season.

Daniel Ricciardo in Green

The only way Daniel could hope for a seat in the Aston Martin is when the 4-time world champion, Sebastian Vettel exits it. With Seb’s contract ending with the Aston team this season it opens the gates for the McLaren driver to jump in the Green car. So does think Tom.
“If he [Vettel] leaves Aston Martin at the end of this year and if Daniel Ricciardo leaves McLaren, I see that as a good place for Ricciardo to end up,” Clarkson says in the F1 Nation podcast.
Aston could bring the old Ricciardo in terms of the performance and also the new AMR22 B car looking like the RB18 could generate the performance people expected from the Aussie back when he was in Red Bull. Tom also believes the 8-time race winner could make the Aston team shine, “I think his personality would light up that place,” said Tom.
McLaren is P4 on the constructors with 59 points in the bag, with Lando scoring the majority of it, 48 points and Daniel only managing only 11.
