“I would have physically a lot of years left,” Sebastian Vettel hints at more years in F1 amidst retirement rumors

The four-time world champion and the Aston Martin driver, Sebastian Vettel, has hinted towards more years in his F1 career after speculations of his retirement post this season surfaced. The German is said to be disappointed and frustrated with the car.

As per PlanetF1, Sebastian is optimistic as he believes that he will be fit physically for a few years, clearing out retirement in the future might only come if the driver is discontent about other issues. At the moment, he appears to be trying to make improvements and helping the Aston Martin team with the development.

Sebastian Vettel, as quoted by PlanetF1, said, “Those [develpment at Aston Martin] will be the key things I will be looking at to see how promising it is looking in the future and how soon, because obviously I’m not really old – I think I would have physically a lot of years left. It’s not a problem at all.”

Sebastian was praised for pushing the AMR22 and qualifying P9 art the Imola GP. The car is said to be on the lower end of the grid, with only making small improvements every weekend. Yet somehow, the German managed to rope in 4 points for the team.

Speaking of Vettel’s contract at the team, Mike Krack, the team principal said, “Obviously, if you have a driver like Sebastian Vettel that you can keep motivated by giving him the car that deserves the quality of his driving, I think you would be foolish not to try to retain him,” the team principal told reporters.”

“He wants to see progress, he wants to see the car moving forward because he’s not a driver that wants to fight for P18 or P16 or whatever, so it’s up to us to deliver the tool that is needed for him to perform,” Krack said addressing Vettel’s comments on team’s performance.

Aston Martin currently stands P9 in the championship, with no significant improvement in sight at the moment. Vettel, with all his experience and prowess, will be tested at least for a few rounds more until they find a breakthrough for the AMR22.
