“I’ll learn from it and won’t do it again”: Charles Leclerc promises he will not repeat Imola mistake in the upcoming races
Ferrari have made a comeback from their previously poor form that disappointed the Tifosi in 2021 to become one of the frontrunners for the 2022 F1 World Championship. After developing the SF-75, the Scuderia have been praised by numerous F1 personnel as their car has apparently been one of the most consistent ones on the track in the four races that have happened till now in this season.
Driving the formidable Ferrari SF-75, Charles Leclerc has made good use of every opportunity that has come his way–like Verstappen’s RB-18 reliability issues and the Mercedes W13’s race pace problems. As of now, Charles Leclerc is leading the Formula 1 Championship standings with 86 points to his name. In the opening four races, he has won two of them, and has got podium finishes in three.
Considering the glittering record that Charles Leclerc has built for himself in this current F1 season, the Monegasque suffered his worst result till now in the latest Imola Grand Prix that happened last week in Italy. The Ferrari driver qualified for the Sprint Race in P2, then overtook Verstappen for the leading position in the first Sprint lap itself. But he lost his lead towards the end of the Sprint, and in the Main Race, he could only achieve P6 due to his Pirelli tyre issues.

Going into Imola, Charles Leclerc had a 43-point difference between himself and the reigning World Champion Max Verstappen. Verstappen had already suffered some awful reliability problems with his car, and he was desperate to gain some points to inch closer to Leclerc.
And Verstappen did deliver a solid performance in Imola as he clinched a triple win with a pole position in the Qualifying, a P1 in Sprint and a race win in the Main Race. This series of victories has helped Verstappen immensely as the gap between him and Leclerc is now of only 27 points.
Speaking of his poor performance in his team’s home race and Verstappen’s recovery, Charles Leclerc said, “It’s one of those mistakes where it is a bit more the mental approach that you’ve had at that particular moment of the race.
“But I’ve always been strong in knowing exactly which particular feeling I felt at what moment of the race, and know how to correct it. So yeah, it’s again, a mistake but I’ll learn from it and won’t do it again.“
