“I’m feeling alright,” Mick Schumacher walks away unscathed after a huge crash during a wet Monaco GP
Mick Schumacher after the crash in Monaco
Mick Schumacher has been impressive in the last few weeks but has had nothing to show for his performances. The German does not have a single up till this point in the season but there hasn’t been lack of trying from his end. It felt like that Mick was trying too hard on a wet and tricky Monaco circuit as he crashed into the barriers bringing out another red flag in an unpredictable and bizarre Monaco GP.
After Kevin Magnussen had retired from the race after a water leak caused an issue, Haas’ hopes for any sort of results were pinned on Mick Schumacher. But, unfortunately, that wasn’t to be as he lost control over the car and collided into the tecpro barrier. The incident happened on the way to Turn 15 which led to the car breaking into two halves just like in the case of Romain Grosjean last year around.
But, thankfully, there was no fire and Mick Schumacher was quickly out of car with the front half of the car into the barrier and the rear wing along with the tyres lying on the track detached from the front end. There was debris all over the track and barriers also needed repairing which forced the FIA to upgrade their decision from a virtual safety car to a red flag.
Mick Schumacher feels ‘alright’ after huge collision coming out of Turn 15 at the Monaco GP
According to the current rules, Mick Schumacher was taken to the hospital to run regular checks on him. After the tests, Mick was doing alright. He said, “I’m feeling alright, it’s very annoying. In terms of pace, we were definitely there and it’s just a matter of keeping it on track – unfortunately I wasn’t able to do that.”
“The pace felt strong and it felt like we were able to attack and push.”
“Unfortunately, I went a bit too wide, probably about 10 centimeters at the end, and that’s enough to lose all grip that you thought you had and the result is what happened,” as reported by planetf1.
This incident involving Mick Schumacher again made us realize how dangerous F1 can be and how the room for error is so small, especially in Monaco. Thankfully, he is okay and we hope to see him back soon.
