Kevin Magnussen has raised his concerns with the jewelry ban in Formula 1 after Lewis Hamilton. In F1, this law has existed for a very long time, where the drivers are not allowed to wear any jewelry inside the cockpit of the car for safety purposes. But prior to the 2022 season, this law wasn’t really talked about and wasn’t brought in the limelight as well.

Lewis Hamilton is famously known for wearing a lot of jewelry; rings, earrings, nose studs, etc. and he has always worn them during the races as well.

But this year, after revising the rules, the new race directors are forcing the drivers to not wear any jewelry while racing to avoid any dangers that follow.

Hamilton has been silent protesting this decision in various ways; he was seen wearing a plethora of jewelry during the conference in Miami, and he stated that it did not matter when he was wearing jewelry for the past 15 years.

Anyways, he removed his rings and earrings for the race, and was asked to remove his nose stud after the Monaco GP, the Briton, however, protested that.

Now, Haas driver Kevin Magnussen has raised his voice against the same, not for any fashionable jewelry, but for his wedding ring.  In his own words, Magnussen said that he would rather take the risk of things going wrong than listen to the noise of the organization, he told MotorsportWeek.

“I understand what they are saying,” Magnussen tries to get an exception for wedding rings.

Kevin Magnussen stated that he understands FIA’s decision, but he believes that it is more of a driver’s responsibility to take care of what happens while racing, and thinks it is not necessary to take off his wedding ring.

“I understand what they are saying, but it is a wedding ring around your finger,” is how Magnussen explains his position. “If something was going to happen, something bad, I would want to wear my wedding ring. It kind of feels bad to take it off,” Magnussen told GPBlog.

Post the Miami GP, Magnussen stands 10th in the championship with 15 points, and Haas stand 8th in the constructors’ with 15 points.
